Gurpreet & Tanya – Lifestyle Portrait Session

Posted on May 27, 2009

Shootin’ some photos in Fort Langley! Fort Langley is a treat to shoot in because of it’s heritage feel, old buildings & signs, colors & calmness. Gurpreet & Tanya wanted to have their photos taken there and I immediately was on board.

These two were great to hang out with. Gurpreet, being the comedian he is, could get Tanya to crack a smile in an instant and I have to say, he had me cracking up throughout the shoot, too. We had a great time and I came away looking even more forward to shooting their wedding this June.

See you in a few weeks, Gurpreet & Tanya!

Amar and Ruby’s Wedding

Posted on May 25, 2009

This was one fun wedding to shoot. Amar & Ruby were a dream couple for me on their wedding day. I guess the fact that Amar was a small-town, down-to-earth type of guy, and Ruby’s a Yoga instructor were good reasons why they were both so extremely calm and happy during their wedding.

Amar and his family drove to Victoria, from Nanaimo, in the early hours of the morning of the wedding. They were greeted at the Gurdwara (Sikh Temple) by Ruby’s family and soon after the wedding ceremony took place. Being in Victoria, Amar and Ruby couldn’t pass up the opportunity to take a horse and carriage ride in downtown Victoria around the Parliament building. We had a great time with the bridal party and afterwards, I ended up driving the bride and groom to the Doli in my little car! It was a very emotional Doli, where Ruby’s family said their farewells to their daughter. From the Doli, there was the 1.5hr drive back to Nanaimo for the Paani Vaarna, where Amar’s family welcomes the newly wedded couple back into the groom’s home. After that, it was party time as the family rocked it out for the rest of the night in their beautiful home.

Thank you Amar & Ruby for such an amazing day. It was truly calming just to be around both of you, and I feel lucky to have been your photographer. I can’t wait to see you both again, soon!

Julie & Kevin – Lifestyle Portrait Session

Posted on May 15, 2009

It’s pretty clear. These two are in LOVE.

Julie asked me to shoot her wedding while we both worked in the same department at Vancouver Film School, and I was pretty thrilled to do so. Last weekend we headed down to Yaletown to do their engagement photos and we had a blast. Julie and Kevin were looking forward to the shoot all week and they came with energy! You couldn’t get Julie not to smile if you tried that day. They were both so casual and comfortable with the camera (as Julie would be, considering she’s an actress. Yes if you recognized her, she IS one of the Lucies from Rat Race – Sorry Julie, I had to post it!).

Can’t say enough awesome things about these two. Loved shooting with you guys and I’m looking forward to the wedding this June!
